So much for Fate/Stay Night

I've now seen all 24 eps of Fate/Stay Night, which I started watching because according to AniDB it had a relation with Shingetsutan Tsukihime (aka Tsukihime - Lunar Legend). Which I suppose is kind of true, since the kid in Shingetsutan Tsukihime had this strange power that let him see an object or person's life lines, which were lines that would cause anything or anyone to fall apart if you'd cut them. With Fate/Stay Night it's kind of similar, the main character has an ability that allows him to do the opposite of the other dude, he can identify the structure of any object or person (or being really) and reinforce it. Here's it's just regular magic that anyone can learn, but apparently it's so weak that nobody takes the time to learn it. But he excels at it, and as he later finds out he also excels at 'tracing' which allows him to create corporeal illusions of objects.

Anyway, it was pretty cool, he's a bit silly in that he doesn't allow his 'servant' to fight for him, which is all she really wants to do.
It's pretty interesting, though I think the translation I had was a bit off, since they were all called heroes and their special abilities were noble phantasms even though there were some real evil beings among them, like Rider and Caster. Of course you might live by the notion that there is no such thing as good and evil, which would fit since even Rider can seem like a nice person at times. But I think probably Legends and Legendary Phantasms would work better, especially with the 'King of Heroes' making an appearance whilst being probably the most evil being in the show, I'd personally prefer to call him King of Legends because he is pretty well known (as are some of the others). But that's just my idea, nothing to do with the show beyond that though.

It was excellent, I enjoyed it, can definitely recommend it.

Tekkaman Blade II

I'm a big fan of the original remake of the series, so when I found out there was a sequel, I was psyched!

Now that I've watched it, I'm sad that there were only 6 episodes. Though the focus has been taken away from the coolest character in the series and it's full of inconsistencies with the original Tekkaman Blade (biggest being that Blade is actually moving, teksetting and remembering things, another being that Blade doesn't need Pegas anymore and that Aki now uses it, I could go on forever), but if you can look past that, it's a very good addition.

There's some excellent action schenes, the music is, especially during fights, pretty good. The story isn't really all that present and the character development is amazing, which is understandable since they need to do it in only 6 episodes, which causes one of them to be a complete bitch to one of the others in one episode and be her best friend the next!

It's a little weird, it shouldn't have been possible and really wasn't, but it was fun nonetheless!

Tekkaman

Having just finished watching the first half of Tekkaman Blade (after years of having it lay around) I feel that I need to post something.

These things must be crazy to make, and watching it makes me just a little weirded out sometimes. Things like characters moaning all the time, and I mean all the time. When something's behind them and they turn around, when the other person appears, when ever. And then things like friends who get hurt and characters screaming their names 20 times while their still awake and apparently lucid. If your sister is dying and she's in a hospital bed and you're holding her, you don't scream out her name, I would imagine you'd be much more silent so as not to make your sister even less comfortable.

Also a lot of mistakes seem to have been made back then, and perhaps still now, or it was just a really bad show.
In the first episode you see that parts of Blade's armor doesn't move along with him during his transformation, and one of his shoulder pads doesn't even appear.
Other errors in the show (some of which may have been made on purpose, others maybe from lazyness) are things like screens saying 'Emagency' or a wall saying 'Air Rock' or Blade running while standing on Pegas' shoulders. Probably the most obvious one is the first I'd ever noticed (back when I was 14 and even less perceptive) is that every time he shoots out of Pegas he flies off into the distance, then makes a somersault and then lands on Pegas' back (impressive).

There is ofcourse also the fact that constantly the same animation return. Blade's running, the transformation, about 30% of any episode is probably built up from scenes from earlier episodes.

I might be complaining about defects a lot in this post, but nonetheless this is an awesome show. As I said I've just seen half of it and even though it's sometimes strange and very far fetched it has an awesome story and the characters are some of the coolest around.
If you haven't seen it and like Mecha anime then you should definitely try and find this one!
